Safety Barrier Technical

safety-barrier-image0The Livis Safety Barrier System (LSBS) has been designed to create a safe working environment and increase productive working time for contractors employed on London Underground and Network Rail platforms.

Previous deployments have demonstrated that LSBS can increase productive working time by 500% thereby dramatically reducing the cost of a job. With careful planning project costs can be reduced by as much as 50%.

Having successfully gained full approval for its use and an operational safety plan established, commissioning the LSBS for your project is a simple generic process and our project team will be at hand to support you.

Salient features of the “LIVIS SAFETY BARRIER SYSTEM” are:

  • Intrinsically safe via back-up systems
  • Allows full working access to all London Underground platform areas
  • Operates on most LU platform surfaces
  • Vacuum powered, no impact on client’s assets
  • Easily & quickly deployed to site location (particularly on Engineering shifts)
  • Modular construction for ease of assembly
  • Simple to install, rig, commission, operate
  • Installed by a minimum of fully trained/certified on-site crew
  • No special tools/equipment required
  • Fully adaptable via various accessories to suit client requirements

Safety Features

Shock absorbers – reduces forces applied to the surface that the barrier is fixed to during an incident. It also discourages the propping, standing or leaning of items/personnel against the barrier.

Standby pump - In the event of a failure of the duty pump a standby pump can be manually selected.

Vacuum reservoirs – the use of these reservoirs allows a continuation of vacuum/suction of up to 30mins without the use of the vacuum pumps.

Manual struts - the attachment of manual struts when the barrier is free standing (without suction applied) ensures that the barrier remains in position if suction/vacuum is lost. These are placed at every second vacuum base.

Visual and audible alarm - if a massive vacuum loss or power supply failure occurs, a Piezo alarm (100 dbA, warble) will sound and xenon light (1 Hz flashing) will flash.

Trained personnel - whilst working in safety critical environments the barrier must be attended and monitored by a trained operative.

Commissioning the LSBS for your project is a simple generic process which allows you to plan platform closures quickly and with ease. To understand the possibilites that this product could have on your business please contact:
