Warren Street

The station opened as part of the Charing Cross, Euston & Hampstead Railway on the 22nd June 1907, under the name Euston Road. The stations name changed to Warren Street the following year.

As part of the complete modernisation of Warren Street there was requirement to install a new cable management system throughout the station. The design and manufacture of this system was carried out by QinetiQ.  Livis was the specialist installer appointed for these works.

There were a number of challenges to overcome to successfully complete the project. In many of the areas the station coatings were as originally designed or had had upgrades to improve fire compartmentation. The new CMS was installed from the ticket hall area, down escalators, to lower  circulating areas, adits, walkways, Victoria and Northern line platforms.

The CMS was made up of primary fixings (Lindapters and chemical fixings) which held Unistrut frames which in turn held the main module, including a door section and frieze panel (the frieze panel housed new lighting).

All new cabling for electrical, mechanical, communications and fire were all housed within the new CMS. Livis work teams had to work hand in glove with other contractors as the works often closed off escalators and platform areas.

Upon completion of the project the new CMS achieved an efficient, well organised and aesthetically pleasing system.
