Tactile Installation

Livis has now completed over 100 tactile installation programmes for London Underground.

Our vast expertise in tactile installation allows us to use the most effective methods and materials to deliver excellent results.

Livis offer  the service  to install concrete, ceramic, resin, or rubber tactiles.  The choice of material used depends on each individual platform composition and environment.

Livis have installed both corduroy and blister tactiles achieving clear contrasts to the existing platform  surfaces including asphalt, terrazzo, concrete, ceramic tiles and other flooring surfaces.

Method of Installation

Livis work teams are vastly experienced with the installation of different types of tactiles.

Concrete tactiles are usually installed on surface stations (which allow the required depth of bedding), ceramic tactiles to Underground (section 12) stations and resin /rubber on stations that have minimal platform surface depth or challenging surfaces.

The tactile strips are usually installed during engineering hours with the duration to complete a platform varying between 4 and 6 Engineering shifts depending on material types and the access to the site.

Livis Tactile Machine

The machine is designed to cut the correct width, depth and length of platform required for the tactile installation in one pass.

The use of the tactile machine allows for a faster, more efficient and higher quality installation during a short working window.
