As part of London Undergrounds upgrading of the Sub-Surface Railway (SSR) to improve railway performance, the new rolling stock S7 and S8 are key to this SSR upgrade programme. Neasden Depot will be used to stable and maintain the new S7 & S 8 rolling stock alongside existing C and D stocks until they are phased out. The increased power requirements of the new rolling stock dictate that the entire DC Traction system for the depot be upgraded. As part of this upgrade Livis were employed to supply and install 3 new overtrack crossing cable bridges.
Foundations were dug on two of the three bridges by conventional methods and Road Rail Vehicles; the other foundations were piled. Reinforcement was then installed and concrete pumped to a level with holding down bolts cast in situ. Once cured the bridges were craned into position, levelled and fixed.
These works were carried out during Depot possessions and had to be meticulously planned to ensure no disruption to service. |
