Hammersmith

Hammersmith Station is situated at the south west end of the Hammersmith and City Line in the Hammersmith and Fulham Council, north of Beadon Road.

The station is not listed but it is within a Conservation and Archaeological area.

As part of the introduction of new S stock trains onto the Hammersmith and City Line (S7 rolling stock), platforms have been extended to accommodate the longer trains.

Livis have been involved in the station and depot remodelling which involved an extension of platforms 1 & 2.

To achieve this, the existing ticket office was relocated prior to the original being demolished to make way for the new track.  All works were carried out either during possessions, engineering hours or traffic hours.

Piles were driven by a Birse specialist contractor around the area of the new track.  Excavations to a depth of up to 3.5m were carried out to enable new drains and train arrestor bases to be installed.  This was a complex and challenging sequence of the project.

New reinforced concrete platform walls were cast including a horseshoe shaped section of wall with an intricate up stand. Reinforced concrete blocks were cast around the new train arrestors ready for others to install the new track.

New nosing stones, tactiles and asphalt were laid to the new section of platform.
