Marks Tey Platform Refurbishment
Marks Tey is an Abellio Greater Anglia station located in North Essex which serves the main lines between London Liverpool Street and Colchester.
The renewals programme identified a need to improve the condition of the three platforms. The works scope included the breaking out of the aged platform surface and resurfacing with tarmacadam and the installation of new Aco drainage. We have additionally provided a new drainage run under the railway tracks. The extent of tarmac broken out and removed by hand amounted to some 120 tonnes.
The works were accomplished during day time working, line blocks and possessions. Works undertaken during the day time were provided whilst the station remained fully operational in order to enable unrestricted access to all the platforms for passengers, staff and all stakeholders. The platforms remained fully operational during published timetable working.
The project progressed behind physical barriers in the form of Chapter eight barriers during day works. During line possessions with engineering trains running, we utilised timber sleepers which were fixed to the top of the tactile paving combined with netlon fencing which was installed and secured with road pins to form the barrier between the workforce and the track.
The successful scheme has resulted in an improvement and rejuvenation to the platform surfaces for all stakeholders utilising this Abellio Greater Anglia Station.
